Excited about Bangkok

Excited.

That is the exact term I would describe my feelings right now, more than a week before I visit again Bangkok, Thailand. Bangkok is really a melting pot from southeast asia countries and the middle east countries. The last time I visited there, what strucked me first was the presence of different nationalities, colours, and races. Oh yeah, I remember Bangkok is the home of regional centres of many, many institutions and international organisations. Well, my organisation East Asia regional centre is based in Bangkok, too. Our regional centre has many expatriates based there, so they are one of the plenty of foreign nationals living and working in Bangkok.

But what makes me excited about BKK?

1. Food – I definitely love their food. For those who love hot and spicy delicacies, then go for Thai food. I love the deep-fried stripped catfish mixed with ripe mango (I forgot what they call it). I missed too the spicy chicken in coconut milk (again I forgot the Thai name)

2. Low cost commodities and food – with 50 Baht alone, you already have your yummy and satisfaction guaranteed meals. Milk, fruits, and others are very cheap!

3. The weekend market – this usually opens every Saturday night. And it is sooooo cheap. If you devours the Thai silk garments, clothings, and others, spend your time in BKK falling on weekends to enjoy shopping in weekend market.

4. The people – I have many Thai friends plus the media and comms peeps in the East Asia region. I miss hanging out with hem every after 5pm till 2 am! Shopping, roaming around, eating from the night market resto, jumping to another local food house for desserts, then to a bar house to listen for cool musics, then knockdown sleep back in a 5-star hotel.

Till the next update bout my BKK trip this Feb. :-)

P.S. There is a resto in Sukhumvit called “Cabbages and Condoms” They offer free condoms “Republican” or “Democrat” size. It is kinda funny. But don’t worry, they don’t serve condoms, they serve delicious cuisine! You’ll just be amazed because you are surrounded with condoms. They are one of the advocates of anti-HIV and AIDS since prostitution in BKK is legal. (just some thoughts to share)
